Engagement Photography: What Clients Need to Know
The Ins and Outs of How to Dress on Your Engagement Day
You’ve booked your engagement photoshoot and you are excited to strike a pose with your fiance. But what should you wear and how should you prepare?
It can be a lot to think about. So, here’s a handful of tips to prepare you and your spouse-to-be for your day of photos.
What to Wear for Your Engagement Photos
Engagement photos are a great way to capture the beautiful moment of finally finding someone to tie the knot with. And while the most important thing is how you feel that day - you might need some pointers on how to capture moments as beautiful as you feel.
You likely already know that you want to dress with a blend of your style and your comfort. If a sweater and jeans is what you feel comfortable in and what makes you feel beautiful, go for that! Dress it up hats, scarves or statement jewelry. If this is your chance to don that long, flowy dress you’ve been hanging on to, or that super fancy button up, go for it!
After all, feeling attractive during your engagement photos is all dependent on you and your personality.
Either way, coordinating colors that work well together, or mixing muted patterns with textures is a great way to match without wearing the same exact color combos. Think about colors that compliment each other - navy blue with maroon, rich tans with forest green, and burnt orange with off-white.
Feel free to get inspiration from past events you’ve been to, other couples you know, or even my own Instagram feed.
Consider the Little Things During Your Engagement Photoshoot
Small items can end up as large distractions in your photos. Be mindful of what's on your wrists, eyes, and more. Are you wearing hair ties on your arm? Fitbits and apple watches? Are you wearing dark glasses or transition lenses? Small details like these show up in a big way. And you don’t want these minute things to distract from your smiles or the scenery.
Engagement photos are a great way to incorporate meaningful items in the lead up to your big day. Maybe this is champagne, to blankets, items from the initial engagement, or important memorabilia. Personally, I love to capture wedding rings but your significant trinket can be anything!
