Engagement Sessions in the Orange Circle

If you’ve followed us long enough, you know my whole shtick is photographing couples in love, in the places they love.

Normally that means photoshoots in the great outdoors. Epic locations like Yosemite, Death Valley, or the California coasts. Everyone wants to be photographed in the coolest places, after all.

But sometimes, my couples find meaning right down the street. Great architecture, stunning views, and quaint spots can be found right in your neighborhood if you know where to look.

This was especially true for Ruta and Greg. This couple of 10 years wanted their engagement shoot located in their backyard—the Orange Circle in Orange County, California.

What’s the Orange Circle?

In Orange, California you’ll find a downtown area called Plaza of Orange or “the Circle,” full of great restaurants and shops, tons of antique stores, and a lot of really beautiful architecture around the corner from Chapman University. That’s where I found myself with Ruta and Greg on a very warm Southern California winter day. We walked from church to church, taking photos at every beautiful spot we could find. Only stopping when it was time for some tacos!

The cultural vibrancy of the Circle—from the antique vibes to the giant fountain and all the streets in between—makes for a fun urban landscape in which to photograph a meaningful engagement.

The Best Parts of Engagement Photography

Photographing some of the most romantic moments of someone’s life is a joy for someone like me. It’s even more special when you have the opportunity to photograph friends and family members who you’ve seen grow together over the years.

Ruta and Greg have been supporters of my business from the get-go. They've posed in tons of photos for me, allowing me to practice as I started this business. But on this warm December morning, I got to photograph Ruta and Greg's engagement—for real this time!

Now the countdown begins to the wedding date.
