How to Elope in Page, Arizona
The Utah-Arizona border is a magical place. It’s so remote, so out of the way, that it’s often overlooked for travel and elopements. Save places like Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon that everyone knows. But beyond those wildly popular locations lies endless lands of red sandstone, forming slot canyons, epic vistas, winding rivers, and more.
Page is right in the middle of all this amazing landscape. The town is small, but it’s the gateway to so many amazing places. Places you have to see before you die, so why not make it YOUR elopement location. Places like this can only be found in the southwest, so come out here for your adventurous wedding.
Wedding Permits for Page
Permitting for this area isn’t straightforward. The areas around Page are managed by many different agencies, so needing a permit will depend on where exactly you get married. No stress—this is where I come in! This is why it’s important to hire a photographer with experience in finding and pulling permits. Certain locations, like BLM and National Forest locations won’t require permits. But some popular places like Horseshoe Bend and Glen Canyon Recreational Area will.
Also note that the Navajo Reservation owns a ton of land around here. Popular spots like Antelope Canyon are on their land and subject to different rules and regulations.
How to Get a Marriage License
To get legally married, you must have a marriage license in the state you are getting married in. In some states, it needs to be the county as well, but that depends. Typically, you’d apply online for a marriage license at the local county clerk’s office, then book an appointment to pick it up together.
In an area like this, that’s remote and spans two states, that might be tricky. But not to worry, you have some options.
Fly into Phoenix and pick up an Arizona marriage license in Flagstaff.
Fly into Las Vegas and pick up a Utah marriage license in St. George and Kanab on the way.
Have a commitment ceremony here and get legally married elsewhere.
Where to Get Married Near Page, Arizona
Lake Powell, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Arizona & Utah
A giant man-made lake spanning Arizona and Utah. There are some truly epic views here, like the popular Alstrom Point. This spot is amazing for camping and views, but it’s only 4x4 and high clearance accessible. Or try something easier to get to, like Lone Rock Beach, another spot popular for water access and camping. There’s so many other spots to check out that I couldn’t possibly add them all, so hit me up for recommendations. This lake is very much at risk of drying up. So want those lake views? Get married here sooner rather than later.
Marble Canyon, Arizona
Just southwest of Page is Marble Canyon, an area of staggering cliffs following the Colorado River. This is my favorite place to camp in the area, so you can get farther away from the crowds. There’s tons of BLM land, so you can camp and bring your dog. There’s also Condor viewing sites, slot canyons, and river access.
Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, Arizona
A national monument worth any national park status. This place is amazing and hosts some of the most popular places in the world for those who are brave enough to get out there. It’s remote—there’s almost no services nearby. And you’ll need an offroading vehicle as many of the trails are 4x4 with soft sand. But you’ll be rewarded with world class views.
Page, Arizona
You don’t have to go too far from town! Page is tucked right into the red rock, so you’ll find beautiful places just nearby like Potato Hill Overlook and The Chains. The very popular Horseshoe Bend is also nearby. This spot is so popular, and justifiably so! It’s an easily accessible view of a perfect curve in the Colorado River. Just be aware of the crowds here—elope on weekdays and early mornings for the best experience. Or take your love to the water and SUP camp on the river.
Southern Utah
Why is Utah on this list? Well Page is just 30 minutes from the border, so it’s closer than some of the other spots on this list. It’s worth mentioning the amazing slot canyons here, like Wiregrass Canyon and Wire Pass. You’ll also find Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and the super cute town of Kanab, but that’s for another blog.
None of these fit your vibe? Reach out and we can discuss your location needs!
Venues in and around Page
Elopements in the great outdoors may be beautiful, but they’re logistically better for smaller weddings of 30 and under. Coming with guests? Check out some nearby venues.
Amangiri: This is the spot for luxury. A hotel and spa nestled in the rock you can stay and have a wedding at.
Antelope Point Marina: Coming to Page to get married with guests? This spot has enough room for 150 people—right on the shores of Lake Powell.
Bring Your Dog to Your Page Elopement or Wedding
Public lands like BLM and NF land allow dogs, and there’s plenty of it here! So long as you keep your dog on leash and are prepared for potentially warm temps. Remember—you know your pet best, so consider whether bringing them will be purrrfect for you.
Keep Page Clean: Leave No Trace
Arizona red rocks often come with some extremely delicate plant life. In places like Page, you’ll often find things like cryptobiotic soil, a soil that is actually alive and takes years to regrow if stepped on. Because of things like this, following Leave No Trace (LNT) guidelines is vital.
Keep these guidelines in mind when visiting Page and the surrounding areas:
Pack it in, pack it out. Take trash with you, even orange peels.
Dispose of waste in proper receptacles.
Obey signs if they tell you to stay on the trail. Even better, travel on hard surfaces to avoid cryptobiotic soil.
Don’t disturb local flora and fauna, and don’t feed animals.
Watch where you step—don’t crush the brush.
Don’t set fires if there’s a ban.
Don’t geotag. Sure, this blog is doing that in a way. But there are plenty of places I keep secret in areas that are this popular.
When to Get Married in Page, Arizona
Here’s a quickie guide to seasons in Page:
Spring: Milder temperatures but more crowds. It tends to be windy in the spring.
Summer: This is a great time to visit if you like the heat! Temps can easily hit 100º. And while this place doesn’t get that much rain, Arizona is prone to monsoons in the summer, which can bring dangerous conditions to slot canyons.
Winter: Winter brings in less people and crowds, but it’ll be cold with a chance of snow. If you want activities on the water, it might be too cold.
Fall: Similar to springs, there’s more mild temps but more people. This is a popular time to visit the area.
Tldr: get marred in late fall or early winter
Lodging: Where to Stay in Page
Page is a tourist spot, so you’ll have plenty of places to stay. Check out Airbnb and VRBO, and even look into staying on a house boat!

Shash Dine' EcoRetreat for a unique stay
Under Canvas for glamping
Amangiri for the luxury stay
Getting Around (Planes and Cars)
There’s a few ways to get here depending on cost and other plans. For ease of picking up a marriage license, I suggest flying to Phoenix or Flagstaff and driving up. But you can also fly into Las Vegas.
Here are the options:
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport: Just under a 5 hour drive, taking you through Sedona and Flagstaff on the way.
Flagstaff Pulliam Airport: A much smaller airport just over a 2 hour drive from Page.
Harry Reid International Airport: A 5 hour drive away that brings you through St. George and Kanab.
You’ll want a car to get around Page, and even better if it’s 4x4! While you can get to some cool spots without it, the best places to visit are on 4x4 roads. You can even drive to Page and rent an offroading vehicle in town.
Fun Activities for Your Page Wedding
Make the most of your adventurous wedding by adding an activity, no matter how big or small.
Kayaking, Paddleboarding, and Rafting: Access to Lake Powell and the Colorado River means there are plenty of options for boating and swimming. You can even travel to petrol flights only accessible by water, Antelope Canyon from the back, or Horseshoe Bend from the bottom. There’s a number of spots to rent boats and kayaks in town.
Helicopter Rides: Imagine flying high over this incredible landscape. You can take tours in the area and even take a helicopter to Tower Butte for a ceremony.
Houseboat: Rent a houseboat with your friends and family and stay ON Lake Powell. Now that’s an amazing summer memory.
Hike: There are some amazing hikes in the area. Strap on your shoes and get to hiking in your wedding dress. How to Have a Hiking Wedding >
Canyoneer: You can access slot canyons by foot, but for the more adventurous folks, there’s always canyoneering to get away from the crowds and into remote spots.
Stargaze: Nighttime is still time for photos. Take your love under the stars.
Campfires: You can have a campfire almost anywhere. Staying on public land, at a campground or glamping, or even at some hotels. Add s’mores for a sweet treat.
Hiring Vendors in Page, Arizona
Page might be a tourist area, but it’s still remote! Vendors in the area will be limited, so make sure to check out vendors in other areas such as Kanab and Flagstaff. Consider where you’re driving from when booking vendors—you can always pick up florals in Phoenix and safely drive them to Page.
Best Advice for Getting Married in Page
Drink Water: Page is still the desert, and at a slightly higher elevation. Drink lots of water and electrolytes.
Consider Timezones: Arizona doesn’t observe daylight savings, so for half the year it’s on mountain time. That means your phone could be changing times when you cross the border in and out of Utah. However, the Navajo Reservation located in Arizona DOES do daylight savings.
Rent a 4x4: Page is full of amazing places to visit on dirt roads, many of which are soft. Get the most out of your experience and peace of mind by renting high clearance, offroading vehicles.

Meet Your Arizona Photographer
I'm Diana Lustig, a California-born adventurer with a camera for a hand and an inborn love for the outdoors. I'm a professional photographer of 18 years and counting and lived in Arizona for 4 years during my college experience. In my free time you'll find me traveling with my husband in our van, Clyde. No distance is too far, so we love traveling to amazing places like Page that have so much to offer.
How did I get into wedding and elopement photography? In 2019, I hired adventure photographers for my own wedding and they showed me there’s a different, more personal way to get married. It was such a special day, I want to bring it to so many more couples who believe in getting married their own way.
