Best Mammoth Lakes Wedding Venues in 2026

Mammoth Lakes is somehow underrated when it comes to wedding locations. Mountainous areas like Colorado and Utah get all the attention, but the Eastern Sierra is really an amazing place to get married. Epic views of tall, craggy mountains, lush green meadows, alpine lakes, high desert boulders, and more make for an epic backdrop.

What’s even better is there’s plenty of options for weddings of all sizes. Elopements, micro-weddings, and even full wedding venues can all be found here. So let’s get into some of the best wedding venues in Mammoth Lakes and beyond.

Wedding Venues vs Public Lands in Mammoth Lakes

The East Side has some world-class public lands, perfect for smaller weddings and elopements. With access like this, who needs an expensive wedding venue? But there’s a lot of good reasons to grab one of these venues. If you have more than 30 guests, ceremonies outdoors can be challenging. Many of these spots have limited space and parking, and can be difficult for people with disabilities to traverse. There’s also the problem of where to stay and have a reception that many venues in Mammoth Lakes can provide.

Weather and Seasons

Mammoth Lakes is in the mountains, so it gets all the seasons! So which are the best for weddings and elopements?

Summer: All wedding venues are open during this time. Which is perfect, because summer is truly the most beautiful time in Mammoth Lakes. Still, you’ll want to be prepared for changing temperatures as weather is unpredictable in the mountains. Keep in mind that summer is also fire season. Prepare for all possibilities by getting trip insurance and asking your vendors about their cancellation or rescheduling policies.

Fall & Spring: This time is known as shoulder season. Weather is generally more mild and there are less crowds. However, weather is unpredictable, so be prepared for rain and snow at higher elevations. Fall also brings the possibility of changing leaves!

Winter: As you’ll see from this list, many wedding venues are closed in the winter. Mammoth Lakes get a ton of snow. And while that can make for a beautiful and chilly wedding day, the snow can impact access to many of these areas.

Best Advice for Getting Married in Mammoth Lake

  • Be prepared for weather and elevation: Weather is unpredictable in the mountains. Snow can happen as late as May and as early as August. Elevation can be tough if you’re not used to it, so drink plenty of water and electrolytes and come a few days early to adjust.

  • Get married on weekdays: Mammoth Lakes is busy on the weekends, especially for holidays! Save money and stress by getting married on weekdays.

  • Hire vendors early: It’s remote out here, so your options for wedding vendors are slim. Hire your vendors early! If you’re still having trouble, search for vendors on the way from your destination to Mammoth Lakes. For example, if you fly to San Francisco, look for vendors in Lake Tahoe and Reno.

Meet Your Mammoth Lakes Photographer

I'm Diana Lustig, a California-born adventurer with a camera for a hand and an inborn love for the outdoors. I'm a professional photographer of 18 years and counting. In my free time you'll find me traveling with my husband in our van, Clyde. The Eastern Sierra is where we spend most of our summers—paddle boarding in alpine lakes and peak-bagging.

How did I get into wedding and elopement photography? In 2019, I hired adventure photographers for my own wedding and they showed me there’s a different, more personal way to get married. It was such a special day, I want to bring it to so many more couples who believe in getting married their own way.
