So, You Want to Have a Fun Engagement Photoshoot

Every couple’s adventure engagement photoshoot is different. Some couples enjoy polished outfits juxtaposed with a wild environment, while others prefer something simultaneously silly and adventurous. There’s no right answer when it comes to your engagement photos as long as you come as you are!

This story, however, is about a couple embracing their weird side to have a truly unique and fun engagement photoshoot.

Pineapples, Passion and Pacifica

Driving north on the Pacific Coast Highway towards Pacifica, CA, I groaned about the heavy cloud cover threatening to ruin our sunset engagement shoot. I scouted the location the day before and was absolutely delighted with the lighting and clear skies. I worried that I wouldn’t be so lucky again. As an outdoor photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area, I’m always at the whims of Karl the Fog—especially in Pacifica which is often covered in a low fog bank.

But as I snapped the first few photos, the sun peered out of the clouds, casting a gentle glow over the rocky cliffs and beach below. Our couple, Sean and Diana, arrived just as the weather took a beautiful turn.

Busting out of the side doors of their Ford camper van, our couple appeared carrying pineapple innertubes. Yes, you read that right. Our clients were decked head to toe in pineapple-themed clothing.

Complete with a pineapple-painted jacket, a pineapple engagement ring and holding an opalescent rose, our couple ran straight for the water. Wave after wave met them with increasing force, showering them in sand and salty water. Sean and Diana laughed as their pineapple ensembles soaked through.

Six years into their relationship, this couple fully embraces their own way of doing things. Even their engagement itself was nontraditional, as Diana proposed to her boyfriend while visiting a hot springs in Nevada’s backcountry.

Come As You Are

Sean and Diana’s engagement photoshoot perfectly embodies the Love & Latitudes ethos of “come as you are” and demonstrates how open the possibilities are for your engagement session:

  • Do you want your session to be fun? Get in the water and go for a swim.

  • Do you want your photos to have a classic and timeless feel? Dress up in your best wear and take a hike in your favorite location.

  • Do you want your session to be personal and meaningful? Bring items that represent something special to you, like a trinket from your first date or dessert you made together.

What you do is up to you! Embrace the elements and express your love, your way.

The pineapple engagement shoot while splashing in the ocean was the perfect day for Sean and Diana. What will you do for your special day?
