A Short & Sweet Family Sedona Elopement

Stephanie & Matthew

There are two things I know to be true: Life doesn’t wait, and love finds a way.

I admire clients who move forward with their weddings despite all odds. This was absolutely the case for Steph and Matt, who initially were set to have their elopement in Death Valley National Park where the two live. But life happens and they were forced to change plans when a family emergency arose.

Such is the nature of elopements and weddings. A lot can come in the way of you and your wedding, and sometimes you need to be ready to adapt and change course.

So, within a few weeks, I helped the couple switch their plans to a very warm elopement in Sedona, Arizona. Steph and Matt’s Sedona elopement was beautiful. We met at their Airbnb overlooking the Sedona skyline. They had a private moment together for their first look, followed by exploring the property. We then traveled to their elopement spot amongst the red rocks.

The couple wrote their own ceremony and shared their vows in front of their family and towering red rocks. They held a ring warming ceremony so each family member could feel like an active part of the day. The wedding rings were passed from person to person—a tradition known as a ring warming—who all had their time to make a silent wish for the couple.

Afterward, their family reconvened at the Airbnb with a private chef, who was also a personal friend. Their wedding was full of love and beautiful family moments; just like a wedding should be.

There's power in resilience—which is something so many of us have had to learn over the past few years. It can be tough. But love conquers all. And it’s how we share our love with our partners, our families, and our friends that ensure we can create joy even in the most difficult of times. There's power in choosing love and prioritizing family that makes it all worthwhile.

Diana went above and beyond for my wedding. We originally had planned for an intimate elopement in Death Valley National Park, but we were forced to move dates and locations when my mom’s health took a downward turn. We had to move our date up by over 2 months and we switched the location to Sedona, Arizona. I was totally overwhelmed by this turn of events and it was so helpful to leave the location scouting to her. She picked the perfect spot and we couldn’t have been happier. Our families raved about her professionalism. And of course, the photos are spectacular. Hire her!
